World’s Most Expensive Cars (2)
As though the Scuderia Spider 16M, whose production was limited to just 499 units, weren’t exclusive enough, Ferrari decided to take it a step further. This is where Novitec Rosso, the world’s top refiner of sports cars, comes in.
In the capable hands of Novitec Rosso, Ferrari’s Scuderia Spider 16M was fitted with the trademark Novitec Rosso Race bi-compressor engine with a horsepower of 696 bhp at 8,400 rpm and torque of 503 lb.-ft. at 6,300 rpm. Thus, the 2009 Novitec Scuderia Spider 16M was born. The new engine enables the Scuderia Spider to reach 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and to rocket to a top speed of more than 205 mph.
Because of the high-performing engine, Novitec Rosso specially manufactured a heat-insulated intake manifold that has larger cross-sections to provide the engine with pre-compressed air. Those who would like to further enhance their Spiders can choose from sporty options like sport springs, a lift system for the front axle, 20-inch wheels, and various exterior and interior accessories.
2009 Ford Fiesta Pikes Peak Rallycross
The 2009 Ford Fiesta Pikes Peak Rallycross got its first taste of the rally scene when two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm drove the race car in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Grönholm clocked in the fifth fastest time overall and placed second in the Unlimited Class. Grönholm could have done better had he not had a mechanical issue with the turbocharger on his 800-horsepower Fiesta rallycross racecar. The mechanical issue resulted in a power reduction during Grönholm’s crucial final ascent.
Like Marcus Grönholm, Andreas Eriksson experienced a disappointing turn in Pikes Peak when two of his Fiesta’s tires slipped off their rims and caused the car to go off course and clip a tree. However, Eriksson stated that the car has fantastic handling, and based on all the mishaps that the car has experienced, the Fiesta can be prepped in time for the X Games in LA and hopefully go home with a victory.

While far from being perfect, the 2009 Ford Fiesta Pikes Peak Rallycross shows a lot of potential. The 3-door hatchback, production-based racecar features a turbocharged inline-4 front engine that displaces 2,000 cc. with 800 bhp.
2010 Ferrari 458 Italia
Ferrari is perhaps one of the most innovative car makers around, and the 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia is an obvious testament to Ferrari’s inventive spirit. What makes the 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia stand out from previous Ferrari cars is the fact that it is an entirely new concept in terms of aerodynamics, instrumentation, ergonomics, handling, engine, and design, and this is due largely to Ferrari’s Formula 1 experience.
This 2-door coupe production car and two-seater berlinetta’s compact aerodynamic shape features a front grille with a single opening as well as side air intakes that have been designed to direct air to the flat underbody (the first of its kind on a Ferrari model) and the coolant radiators. The 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia’s nose also has small aeroelastic winglets to generate downforce. The new model has a V8 mid-engine that displaces 4,499 cc. with a horsepower of 570 bhp at 9,000 rpm, torque of 398 lb.-ft. at 6,000 rpm, and a 7-speed semi-automatic transmission. 2009 ART AS55K Yaas Edition Mercedes-Benz G55
AMG
The 2009 ART AS55K Yaas Edition Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG is the automotive equivalent of a centuries-old painting – it was commissioned solely to be the special vehicle for Abu Dhabi’s royal family. The royal model was based on the G55 AMG but was optimized so that the vehicle’s horsepower reaches 620 hp with 880 rpm.
The Obsidian black royal ride has aerodynamic components for the rear, side, front, and roof (including the Aero hood). The aforementioned aerodynamic components and the hood, along with the spare wheel cover, the door handles, the engine block, and the exterior mirror shells, all have high-quality carbonized surfaces that result in a magical three-dimensional effect. Apart from the carbonized surfaces, the royal version of the G55 AMG also has quite a few highly-polished stainless steel decorative elements and a dual-polished stainless steel bumper that add to the vehicle’s overall sparkle.
The sparkle doesn’t end there though. The interior is kitted out in perforated smooth nappa leather, excellent velour leather, and alcantara in shades of cinnamon and anthracite. Just like the exterior, the interior also has carbon features. The doors and the covers on the instrument panel have all been furnished with a high-quality carbon veneer. Topping off the lavish interior is the gold-colored carbonized-treated multi-function steering wheel.

Corvette Racing will surely dominate the GTS and GT1 categories once again with the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R. This new model will take the place of the GT1 Corvettes which were retired on June 14, 2009 after Corvette Racing raced to victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R is essentially a comprehensive redesign of the GT1 model. Instead of the steel frame of the GT1 Corvette, the newer version’s foundation is the hydroformed aluminum frame found on the production ZR1. The 2009 C6.R also borrows the ZR1’s production-based fenders with wheel flares. Aside from these changes, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R’s diffuser is a fence- and strake-less flat panel, and its rear wing width has been reduced by 25 percent. The new 2-door coupe race car also has steel brake rotors instead of carbon discs and features aluminum wheels instead of magnesium. The 2009 C6.R has also taken a page from the street Corvette’s book as the former has an adjustable steering column and steering rack.
