The Small and Little-known Company… Bill Gates is AFRAID of!

billImagine a world where the PC you buy today, will last 10 or 15 years.

And… It will NEVER need upgrading. Or even fixing.

Ridiculous?

One specifc company is already working on this exact premise. And it’s technology that could bring down Microsoft.

Here’s how it works:

Your computer would be connected via the internet to a computer cluster.

(This “computer cluster” is just a data center full of servers)

And… Instead of doing any processing work, your computer would instead just act as a midway point between you and the cluster.

All fetching, filing and retrieving (all the hard work a computer does)… Would instead be done by a super-fast computer cluster.

Computing resources would then be a metered service, similar to public utilities like electricity, water or the telephone.

What would this mean?

Your computer would never need to be upgraded. As all the processing work your computer does, would be done by the computing cluster.

What’s more… There would be far less technical problems, as any problems can be fixed by expert on-site technicians at the computer cluster.

The result is a cheaper and much faster home PC.

You may think this sounds like a pipe dream.

But… Listen up:

The technology I’ve described above is already fully functional, and the company is already bringing in substantial revenue from Japanese companies.

“You may think this sounds like a pipe dream.”

No there is no think IT IS A PIPE DREAM. Is it not amazing how every year there is a story like this that pops up out of no where. There are a few problems with this story. The first one is there is never a mention of the name of the company. Wow wouldn't you think if this is real then people would be throwing out the name of the company without reservation? Who can forget on how Linux was going to be the downfall of Microsoft….10 years ago……Well Microsoft is still here. Now you've got this “little known, (and so far unmentioned) company from Japan that uses a “cluster of servers” …..hummmmmmmmmmmm, question….who monitors these servers, and what about privacy? Once you turn over your right to privacy to these “Cluster Servers” who protects you? Interesting how this is something hackers were doing for years with trojans , and internet companies, virus software, and spybot programs are designed to stop is now the big thing thats going to bring down Microsoft? Yeah ok. Just once…no not once IT IS TIME for common sense to come to the world. Its time for the fear mongers, and conspiracy theorists to crawl back under their damn rocks, and go away. Oh, and Im sure this post will be gone pretty much right after its posted because it does not fit into your anti-microsoft/anti-free market/anti-democracy agenda.

I agree with what Steve said this sounds like such a fake load of bull I mean it appears as a Spam ad all over the Internet like every other fake thing fancy that >>

  3. United States Thomas from Texas, United States says:

Well… it sounds absolutely impossible, but time would tell. In my opinion, the idea doesn’t sound well prepared or hint for the sources.

  4. United States daniel from Ohio, United States says:

I have to agree with everyone here this is so far-fetched
that it is totally crap not like i wouldn’t like to see something better than the junk we have from Microsoft. but this thing has spammers and and hackers written all over it.
beware of anything to do with it do not give them your real email.

  5. This text is not crap, it actually comes from ContrarianPicks, a fairly respected (of what I’ve heard) stock market observer.

However, the technology described is crap. First of all clustering is by no means new and even Microsoft is “playing with it”. Actually remember those university workstations who had no hard drive or OS of their own but instead would load the OS through the university network via Novell Login? It’s kindof the same, just incredibly greater computing power.

But the issues are not only about privacy and such, it’s just … crap. Just think about all the data involved while playing a computer game. Can you imagine the throughput needed over the internet link in order to receive the data needed for simply displaying the action without disrupting the gameplay? Today we need streaming to play small movies but that can’t be used for playing a game, you can’t “cache ahead” a player’s moves who needs instant response.

Even with a dedicated gaming cluster, serving hundreds of thousands of gamers is unthinkable, there’s no such internet connection. Not to mention the question: how would you go installing software on to a cluster? Even if it was a guaranteed subscription server, I don’t see myself giving up my home computer over which I have full control for a cluster.

  6. United States Willy-Bill from Missouri, United States says:

If anyone remembers, the cluster idea didn’t work years before installed hard drives, what makes the Japanese think it will work today? Companies across the globe found out server operated computing was crap. I don’t trust the publisher, even if he is a known stock gerru. Give me full control of a computer, and I will love it . . . take the control out of my hands, and I won’t own one . . . case and point.

  7. Canada Chris from Alberta, Canada says:

This is without a doubt the dumbest thing I have ever read. Think about it people. How could transmitting data over the internet to a cluster to be processed possibly be faster than using your own cpu. Come on. I’m sure such a system is possible but I’m also sure the speed, reliability and privacy would leave a lot to be desired. Face it, Microsoft is here to stay because most people that use a computer only know how to turn it on and wait for the pop-up from Bill telling them what to do. This gives M$ a near monopoly which results in most software being made for Windows which results in people buying Windows to run the software. Microsoft has cashed in on something that most are unwilling to admit – the ignorance of the masses.

  8. Australia Nick from New South Wales, Australia says:

Internet over optical fibre. Once this is in place, cloud computing can become a reality. As for privacy, the data stored on the cloud could be encrypted and then decrypted at the terminal.

  9. United Kingdom Stevie from Edinburgh, United Kingdom says:

Your post is still there Steve!

As long as there are big companies such as Microsoft, Apple or IBM etc – there will always be haters. Those that like to side with the alternative or underdog (such as Sony ps3 (alternative) or linux op) – and only those people will believe this nonsense. Why nonsense? Because this software does exist, I already use thin client tech and also citrix/terminal serivces/vdi software at work. But not at home – no ‘metered service’ – No thanks! I’m not getting into a never ending monthly fee that I pay nothing for just now! And maybe I like ‘upgrading my PC’! And maybe it’s private that I don’t want ‘metered’ and I like running my processes locally and fast!

Yes- Possible if I was an old grandad that just wanted to browse the internet to pay some bills.

Plausable? Not for me – The Japanese can keep it. All 75% of them.

  10. Canada Sturdyhart from British Columbia, Canada says:

This would be entirely possible when the internet becomes way way faster. Think about this … www[dot]zonbu[dot]com

  11. United States Yuri Tardeed from Missouri, United States says:

OMFG I can’t believe how completely and utter STUPID you all are. You’re talking about whether or not this technology will actually take down MS and you can’t see it!

THIS IS A PUMP AND DUMP SCAM!!!!

  12. Canada Mikesla from Nova Scotia, Canada says:

If you do think this is a pipe dream, then what do you think DRM Products are?

These products are exactly that. What is wrong with you people?

1 company, with 10 servers to serve a particular need is a CLUSTER…

Man you people are so short sighted…

This won’t hurt Microsoft, or Bill Gates pocket book, but it will hurt us, the people…you stupid…stupid people.

  13. United Kingdom marlon from Milton Keynes, United Kingdom says:

This technology is far advanced but changing our current technology will take a lifetime! little by little, bit by bit, our technology will evolve! this is the process…sounds like an evolution theory…

Well, there’s only one way to find out the truth… Ask the Japanese…

  14. Canada Darren from British Columbia, Canada says:

If this technology were to become reality I highly doubt MS hasn’t already played with it or are currently doing so. But imagine if a huge amount of people begin storing their data in one huge central place then so will huge amounts of hackers be attacking one convenient area and if even one of them is successful then guess what? and you think just your computer being hacked was a problem? imagine millions all at once, millions of terabytes of data lost forever….the downfall, the chaos….I’m sure this will be MS’ comment if this were ever to be readily available and Gates was’nt ready for it. In a way I’m kinda hopeing it does as I will be the first to jump all over the MS stock when it hits an all time low only to ride along when the “new idea” crashes and MS stock skyrockets.

  15. Canada Darren from British Columbia, Canada says:

P.S….becareful with this site too….it knows where you live….ahhh!!!
